CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER – $12.5 MILLION, CONNECTICUT HILLS
With a career spanning six decades, Christopher Plummer has got to have a great career and money management skills. He’s most known for portraying Captain George von Trapp in the classic film and musical, The Sound of Music. He’s also played several historical figures including Emperor Commodus, Arthur Wellesley (1st Duke of Wellington), Rudyard Kipling, and Leo Tolstoy.
Plummer lived in a century-old mansion before putting it up in the market. He bought his home at Darien 209 Long Neck Point Road in the ‘70s and found a buyer for the property in 2009. The buyer renovated it, including roof repairs and the like, and revealed much of the property’s original charm like barn doors and terracotta floors. Inside the mansion’s over more than 7700-square-foot living space, there are 15 rooms, including six bedrooms, a library, and a gourmet kitchen. The buyer put it back on the market in 2014 and sold it for $12.5 million.
