HARRY BELAFONTE

The phenomenon, American singer-songwriter Harry Belafonte was credited as the “King of Calypso” for his unique and distinct Caribbean musical style. Since the 1950s, he has recorded songs in multiple genres such as gospel, blues, and Caribbean folk. He also released some worldwide hit albums such as Calypso, Beetlejuice, and many more. Aside from being proficient in singing, Harry also pursued acting and appeared in several films.

Throughout his career in the music and film industry, he has garnered three Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, and a Tony Award. He is also a proud activist and known as an avid supporter of the Civil Rights Movement and was a close associate of the late Martin Luther King Jr. He also has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1987 until now.
