MARGE CHAMPION

Marge Champion began her career as a dance model for Walt Disney Studios animated films including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, where her movements were copied to enhance the animation. Marge and his former husband, Gower, performed in MGM musicals such as Everything I Have Are Yours. Due to her contribution to the performing arts, she was credited into the National Museum of Dance’s Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame.

Marge has been dancing since she was a child. She started learning under the guidance of her father Ernest Belcher when she was a child. Her father is a famous Hollywood ballet instructor. She studied exclusively with her father from the age of five until she left for New York. In 1930, she made her debut in the Hollywood Bowl in the ballet “Carnival of Venice” at the age of 11. By the age of twelve, she became the ballet instructor in her father’s studio.
